…during pandemic — while staying safe at home

There are so many simple small things that bring joy to our life. And, in our day to day busy life we don’t get an opportunity to do many of these things. These are some of the ideas, that I’d consider doing on my special day.

What is Birthday?

Birthdays in general sense just like another day, except it is not. It’s an annual milestone of our lives when we can look back of our years and cherish good days, while look forward and dream bigs! It’s an opportunity (and more of an excuse) to add yet another celebration in otherwise probably mundane life. :-)

7 Things to do on Birthday — while staying at home!

  1. 📝 Be grateful to your parents — and say thank you to your parents and other family members who helped you when you were so dependent on them for every little thing. For many months after our birth, we used their kindness, tested patience, and enjoyed their service — for a very little fee of just our smile. Make some phone calls, write a letter, send an email, or at least text a sweet message.
  2. 💰 Donate to your Favorite Cause — and maybe also start a fund-raising campaign. There is nothing like sharing happiness with those who deserve a great deal of it. This might be a nice annual ritual to do. And, like they say — nothing is small. You might also encourage your friends start this culture.
  3. 🛍 Treat yourself — with a nice book or a pair of boots (if you love outdoor). Or literally anything that has been in your wishlist for a long time. You may need to order it online or keep some money aside until you could buy it — but make it intentional.
  4. 👨‍👩‍👦 Spend time with your loved one(s) at home — by having a fireside storytelling or watching a movie with lights off and popcorns. If you feel safe, having your friends over might be nice too. The idea is to take a break from regular work and do something unusual. This will make it memorable for years to come.
  5. 📷 Look Back — into good memories of your life. Dig up your old childhood photos. Maybe make a list of all your achievements and accomplishments. Make a separate list of everything that you have received from the life, from people around you (like having the best school teacher), and your blessings. Again, nothing is small. Having a roof over head is a blessing, and so is having good neighbors.
  6. 🔮 Dream big — by time traveling to your childhood, sitting in a language class when you (probably) wrote an essay on what you wanted to be when you grow up. Think of all the reasons and see how can you still do that. For an example, I wanted to be a scientist so that I can give back to the world and make a better place. I am far from scientist — a software engineer but I can still make the world a better place by developing the right digital products that will improve the quality of life for it’s users. And, remember Sky is limit. Make a vision for your life ahead and spend some quality time planning for it.
  7. 👏 Do what you love — and be kind to yourself. Appreciate yourself for fighting all the battles you are fighting, dealing with everything you may be going through and be there for yourself as you’d for your best friend — because you are.

The important thing is life is nothing but collection of moments and memories. Cherish your life. Celebrate it. Share it with people who really care. And, my wish for you is that may this day brings abundance of everything good in your life. May God bless you.
